Retired Account Was Active Central United Methodist Church Member

Doris Katherine Jeffries Stinespring, 88, of 833 Lou Avenue, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died early Tuesday morning, March 8, 2016.

She was born in Clifton Forge, Virginia, on June 15, 1927, a daughter of the late Edgar Emmett Jeffries and Alice Patterson Jeffries.

Doris was a retired accountant/ bookkeeper for the R.L. Persinger & Company Accountants of Covington.

She was an active member of the Central United Methodist Church of Clifton Forge, where she served as Treasurer of the United Methodist Women, a member of the Wesleyan Circle and served on several committees of the church.

She loved her flowers, birds and reading.

Doris had a great love of her family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Harvey Eugene Stinespring of Clifton Forge; two daughters, Susan Hutchison and her husband, John, and Lana Paige Dotson, all of Clifton Forge; a son, Eddie Stinespring and wife, Robbin of Clifton Forge; brothers, Bernie Jeffries and wife, Gladys of Clifton Forge and Ronnie Jeffries and wife, Joyce of Covington; two sisters-in-law, Katherine Armstrong of Covington and Violet Jeffries of Clifton Forge; 5 grandchildren, Chris Hutchison, Timmy Hutchison and wife, Laura, Brad Dotson and wife, Tracy, Katie Dotson and friend, Jonothan Wrenn and Lauren Stinespring; two great grandchildren, Scott Hutchison and Hayleigh Dotson; a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Jeffries and a son-in-law, John Dotson.

A funeral service will be conducted Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home with Rev. Lynn Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery, Clifton Forge, Virginia.

The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Mike Jeffries, Jon Wrenn, David Speh, Ricky Shinault, David Brinkley and J. D. Williams.
