Millboro Resident Dies At Age 69

Frances Ann Carder Manion, 69, of 1963 Crooked Spur Road, Millboro, Virginia, died Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Charlottesville, Virginia, on April 1, 1946, a daughter of the late Robert Carder and Mary Ann Brown Carder.

Frances was a dedicated mother working in the home raising eleven children.

She is survived by her husband, William K. Manion of Millboro; four daughters, Kim Manion of Millboro, Karen Hobbet and her husband, Jeff of Holly Springs N.C., Kristina Manion of Tacoma Washington, Kera Manion Winburn and husband, Charles of Alexandria; three sons, Kendall Manion and wife, Jocelyn of Henrico, Keith Manion and wife, Angela of Fredericksburg, Kent Manion and wife, Kristina of Geneva, Ill.; step daughter, Carol Manion and Mike Lawson of Durham N.C.; step sons, Ken Manion and wife, Deb of Franklinton, N.C. and Kary Manion, Jr. and wife, Mary of Ridgeway; a sister, Susan Carder of Culpepper; two brothers, Bill Carder and Marvin Carder, also of Culpepper; a brother in law, Frank Manion of Rockville Md.; seven grandchildren, Katherine Hobbet, Anna Hobbet, Emily Hobbet, Ben Hobbet, River Manion, Hadley Manion, and Jonathan Manion; two step grandchildren, Kyrian Manion and Curtis Manion; also a number of nieces and nephews and a special friend, Cindy Hooper.

Frances was preceded in death by her son, Trooper Kevin Manion and granddaughter, Alice Manion.

A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, March 13, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home with the Reverend John Haney and Reverend Lloyd Via officiating. Interment will follow in the Windy Cove Cemetery in Millboro Springs.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home. The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105-1905.
