Low Moor Resident Was Harmon And Johnson Contractors Employee

Johnny Alvin Dunbar, age 70, of 202 Crossing Lane, Low Moor, Virginia, died Thursday, March 10, 2016 at LewisGale Hospital - Alleghany, Low Moor, Virginia.

He was born January 5, 1946 in Gen Wilton, Virginia, to the late Kenneth C. and Bessie Miller Dunbar.

He was a laborer for Harmon and Johnson Contractors.

He attended Lighthouse Pentecostal Church and loved to hunt and fish.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Sue Tinsley Dunbar: two sisters, Edith Noble and Maxine McCulley; and three brothers, Junior Dunbar, Haden Dunbar and Frank Dunbar.

He is survived by a son, Charlie Dunbar and wife, Felicia of Low Moor; four sisters, Betty Hyler of Clifton Forge, Jewell Watkins of Natural Bridge Station, Ella Jeffries and husband, Montie of Glen Wilton and Barbara McGaha of Florida; two brothers, Jimmy Dunbar and Michael Dunbar, both of Glen Wilton; four grandchildren, Dillon Shane Dunbar, Austin Matthew Morris, Destany Rose Taylor and Austin Nichols Stephenson; a great granddaughter, Emma Rose; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Ikramullah Abbasi.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Gordon Hammond officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
