Sharon Yvonne Burris Kay, 53, of Millboro, Virginia, died Monday, March 14, 2016 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia.

She was born August 11, 1962 in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of Emma Jean Brinkley Burris and the late Robert Preston Burris.

She formerly employed with Omni Homestead Resort.

Sharon loved making jewelry, gardening, cooking and baking. She was a loving wife and mother.

She is survived by her husband, Gordon Lee Kay of Millboro; two children, Shane A. DeBord of Rural Retreat, Virginia and Amanda Lee Kay of Millboro, Virginia; a brother, Bobby Burris and wife, Pam of Millboro; four sisters, Debra Burris, Shirley Burris, Patty Billiter and husband, Mike and Sue Ellen Burris, all of Rural Retreat; and a special friend, Leslie Ryder of Mountain Grove, Virginia.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 17, 2016 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Woodzell Family Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Grim, Jacob Glenn, Dalson Paxton, J.J. Ingram, Pete Kay, and Anthony Kay.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Millboro Fire Department or the Millboro Rescue Squad.
