Retired C&O Electrician Dies At Age 85

Herbert Hilton (Bunk) Caldwell, 85, of 1408 Woodlawn Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Monday March 21, 2016 at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany in Low Moor.

He was born November 4, 1930 in Clifton Forge, a son of the late Ira V. and Grace Jeffries Caldwell.

Bunk was a retired electrician for the C&O Railroad.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Margie Porter Caldwell; two brothers; James C. Caldwell and Ira "Boots" Caldwell; and two step sons.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Sprouse Caldwell of Clifton Forge; two daughters, Kathy Hall and husband, Jon of Crozet, and Susan Clark and husband, Glenn of Clifton Forge; a sister, Phyllis Tyree of Clifton Forge; a step son; a step daughter; four grandchildren, Adam Hall, Tara Smith, Callie Altman, and Kyle Clark; three great-grandchildren, Lilly Smith, Mason Tuck, and Easton Altman; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes his body has been cremated. The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon, March 26, 2016 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
