Obituary for Garland Edward Irvine Sr. Garland Edward Irvine Sr.
Lexington Baptist Church Charter Member Also Attended Bible Church at Rockbridge

Garland Edward Irvine Sr., 91, of Lexington, Virginia, died Saturday, April 2, 2016, at his home.

Born December 31, 1924, in Lexington, he was a son of the late James Boyd Irvine and Zelia Hall Irvine.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Wood Irvine, and two brothers, Leslie Irvine and Norman Irvine.

Garland was a veteran of World War II.

Mr. Irvine was a charter member of Lexington Baptist Church, but attended Bible Church at Rockbridge.

Mr. Irvine always had time to lend a hand to those around him, and to serve the needs of others.

Surviving are his sons, Garland Edward "Eddie" Irvine Jr. and wife, Darlene of Lexington, Randall Lee "Randy" Irvine and wife, Nita of Palmyra; brother, Curtis Ray Irvine, of Lexington; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday April 5, 2016, at Harrison Funeral Home with the Rev. George Warden officiating. Burial will follow at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2016. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Bible Church at Rockbridge, 3 W.
