Former Iron Gate Mayor Was Retired Acadmia Polymers Engineer

Stanley Frederick Paitsel, age 82, of 415 Commerce Avenue, Iron Gate, Virginia, died Wednesday April 6, 2016 at LewisGale Hospital - Alleghany in Low Moor.

He was born January 12, 1934 in Selma, Virginia, to the late Alpha and Julia Steber Paitsel.

He was a retired engineer with Acadia Polymers, and served as the Mayor of the Town of Iron Gate from September 1, 1988 until May 30, 1993.

Stanley was a super athlete at Central High School, excelling in three sports, football, basketball and baseball, and he served as the team captain of all three sports. He also loved watching college basketball.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shyrlee Zane Vess Paitsel; his daughter, Sandra Hyler; four brothers, Carlyle, Stewart, Alpha, Jr. and Roy Paitsel; and two sisters, Helen Fury and Mary Weidel.

He is survived by his daughter, Diane Hensley and her husband, James of Staunton; a brother, Ray Paitsel and wife, Lois of Covington; two grandchildren, Frederick Scott Hensley and Andrew David Hyler; and three great grandchildren, Shyanne Hensley, Garon Hyler, and Gabriel Hyler.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday April 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor with Reverend Lee Dotson officiating. Interment will immediately follow.

There will be no formal visitation. However, friends may call at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, during business hours on Monday, April 11.
