Former Alleghany County Public Schools Bus Driver Also Worked With WalMart

Mrs. Joyce Clarke Knighton, age 68, of Covington, Virginia, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at LewisGale Hospital-Montgomery in Blacksburg, VA.

She was the wife of William "Fuzzy" Ellsworth Knighton.

Mrs. Knighton was born February 26, 1948 in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late John Henning Clarke and Minnie Noel Clarke.

A lifetime resident of the community, Mrs. Knighton was retired from the Alleghany County Public Schools System, where she was employed as a school bus driver for 24 years.

She was a former employee of Wal-Mart, where she worked in the Lawn and Garden Department.

She enjoyed camping and watching TV, especially Wheel of Fortune.

Mrs. Knighton was a member of Greenwood Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her husband of 48 years, William "Fuzzy" Ellsworth Knighton, Mrs. Knighton is survived by two sons, Randy Alan Knighton and Jason Scott Knighton, and wife, Jessica; one brother, Tommy Clarke, of Richmond; two sisters, Barbara C. Flint and husband, James, and Betty C. Stull; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, John Henning Clarke and Minnie Noel Clarke, Mrs. Knighton was preceded in death by three brothers, John Clarke, Bobby Clarke, and Gerald Clarke; and two sisters, Peggy Crawford and Anna Lorena Clarke Wilmer.

A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016 from the Chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Melvin "Buddy" Burks officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 4:00 p.m. until time of service at Loving Funeral Home and other times at the residence at 2314 S. Lewis Ave, Covington VA 24426.
