Obituary for Boyd T. Mitchell Boyd T. Mitchell
Natural Bridge Resident Dies At Age 85

Boyd T. Mitchell, 85, of Natural Bridge, Virginia, while at home, left his earthly body to join his beloved wife, Ethel Mitchell, who he loved dearly and was preceded in his death on May 8, 1995.

Boyd was born on November 9, 1930, and was a loyal husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He was also preceded in death by his mother and father, Samuel A. Mitchell, Bessie Beckner Mitchell; a brother, Samuel Mitchell Jr.; a son in law, Rick Newcomb.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda Newcomb; three grandsons, Phillip and Lorna Newcomb, Jared and Angela Newcomb, and Joseph Newcomb; four great- grandchildren, Micayla and Cameron Newcomb, and Matthew and Zoey Clark.

Boyd was retired from Burlington Industries, (Mohawk), and he was also a farmer, mechanic, a mentor.

He was an intelligent, gentle, understanding, yet stern man. Many have recollected his deep voice, which spoke volume, with few words. He is, and will always be our hero, and role model, who will sadly, sadly, be missed.

His memories and the life he gave and shared with us will never be forgotten.

Special thanks to Lorna Newcomb, who through the last year or so of his life, provided the special care, love and patience he required. Also, special thanks to the nurses at Hospice.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2016 at the Natural Bridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Natural Bridge Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, make donations to the Rockbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers Street, Lexington, VA 24450.

The family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Harrison Funeral Home in Lexington, Virginia.
