Former Rayon Lunch Restaurant Co-Owner Was Longtime South Covington United Methodist Church Member

Dorothy Louise Taylor Sink passed from this world into the next on Thursday morning, May 12, 2016 surrounded by family and friends at the home of her daughter.

She was born in Renick, WV, on October 2, 1926, the fourth child of Henry Charles Taylor and Ula Baker Taylor.

Dorothy graduated from Renick High School, where she played on the basketball team. After graduating, she moved to Covington and went to work at the Industrial Rayon Corporation at the age of 17.

She met Richard Mason Sink, Sr. and was married for over 62 years before losing Richard to a stroke.

She and Richard owned and operated the Rayon Lunch restaurant in the late 50's and early 60's. She also had a beautician license.

She was a long-time member of South Covington United Methodist Church, an avid gardener, and rummy player.

She had a mischievous sense of humor.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and four brothers: Henry, Irvine, Darrell, and Lawrence; two sisters: Florence and Patty; and a step daughter, Ruby Hyler.

She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Johnson (Bill); her sisters: Faye Snedegar (Etsel) of Quinton, VA; Wilma Harris of Jacksonville, FL; her brother, Haroll Taylor of Stanley, NC; her step-son, Richard Sink, Jr. of VA Beach; a special family member and friend, Arletta Griffith, a special niece who spent lots of time with her – Louise Spicer, many other wonderful nieces and nephews that she thought so much of, and her kitty, Handsome.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 14 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Bill Johnson.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 15 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Reverend Donald Earwood officiating. Interment will be on Monday, May 16, at 11 a.m. at Alleghany Memorial Park.
