Obituary for Roger Wayt Smith Roger Wayt Smith
Lexington Resident Was Longtime Fitzgerald Lumber Company Office Manager, W. R. Deacon Employee

Roger Wayt Smith, 64, of Lexington, Virginia, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016 at his home.

Born June 21, 1951 in Staunton, Virginia, he was a son of Ada Leona "Lee" Funk Smith and the late Silas Wayt Smith.

Mr. Smith attended the Collierstown Presbyterian Church, and was a member of the National Guard for eight years.

Roger was the office manager for Fitzgerald Lumber Company for thirty five years, and then worked for W. R. Deacon & Sons Timber.

He never met a stranger, loved his family, fun times at the beach, farming, and his Hereford cattle.

In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife, Tracey Teague Smith of Lexington; five children, Mindy Marie Boitnott of Troutville, McKenna Lynne Smith of Rocky Mount, Jessica Donald of Lexington, Sarah Sorrells of Dunmore, Pa., Matthew Sorrells of Sunset Beach, N.C.; one sister, Cheryl Calhoun of Grottoes; seven grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2016 at the Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Russ Barb officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in loving memory of Roger to the Rockbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers Street, Lexington, VA 24450.

The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
