Obituary for Lucille Wright Clark Lucille Wright Clark
Former Clifton Forge Leggett Department Store Employee Was Presbyterian, Baptist Church Member

Lucille Wright Clark, age 87, of 1253 Ashburn Drive, Forest, Virginia, and formerly of Clifton Forge, died Monday, May 30, 2016 at her residence.

She was born August 17, 1928 in Clifton Forge to the late James Millard and Hester Virginia Garland Wright.

Lucille was a member of the Clifton Forge High School Class of 1948.

She worked for Leggett Department Store for 21 years, then the C & O Historical Society.

She was a lifetime member of the Clifton Forge Presbyterian Church, where she belonged to the Sara Lynn Bible Class, the Circle # 1 Women of the Church, and was a member of the Shepherds and an elder. She attended the Lakewood Baptist Church, belonging to the Sunshine Bible Class and the Sun Rays. She was a charter member of the Anata Shrine Guild, the Clifton Forge Womens Club, the Spade and Trowel Garden Club, the Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center, The Martha Chapter # 21 Order of the Eastern Star, the Clifton Forge Elks Ladies Auxiliary, the NARVE (National Association of Retired & Veteran Railway Employees, Inc.), the Clifton Forge High School Alumni Association, and the Red Hat Society.

In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Edward "Buddy" Clark, two brothers, and six sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Lofland and husband, Clay of Forest, a sister, Rachel Lockard of Daleville, and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Paul Brokaw and Reverend David Marston officiating.

Following the service, her body will be cremated. Inurnment of her remains will follow in the Mausoleum of Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor, at a later date.

The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Clifton Forge Presbyterian Church, 544 Church Street, Clifton Forge, VA 24422, the Lakewood Baptist Church, 2469 Sunburst Road, Evington, VA 24550, or the Shriners Hospital for Children, c/o Jim Eller, 1201 Crestwood Ave, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
