Obituary for Mrs. Betty Lineberry Carter Mrs. Betty Lineberry Carter
Buena Vista Resident Was Longtime First Pentecostal Holiness Church Member

Mrs. Betty Lineberry Carter of Buena Vista, Virginia, passed away in her home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, May 25, 2016.

Left to cherish her memory are her adoring and devoted husband of nearly 54 years, James "Jimmy" Carter; her two daughters, Kimberly Carter (formerly of New York) of Buena Vista and Christy Carter-Camden of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a son-in-law, David Camden; two grandchildren, Logan and Lauren Camden, both of Winston-Salem, N.C.; her siblings, Wilda Cregger, Lisa McGuire, Wayne and Roger Lineberry, all of Roanoke, and Shelby Gibson of Buena Vista.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Mae Lineberry, formerly of Buena Vista; and her brothers, Chester and Gary Lineberry.

Betty was a retired banker and she and her husband, Jimmy enjoyed traveling to visit their daughters and grandchildren.

To Betty, her family was her focus. She was a faithful wife and her marriage to James was a true love story. Betty adored Christmas - finding special gifts for loved ones, decorating her home, cooking her family's favorite foods, while always revering the religious significance of the holiday.

Her church, the First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Buena Vista, was her spiritual refuge for the past four decades.

Betty was a true southern belle and was greatly admired and respected by her family and friends. She taught her daughters and anyone else open to her through earnest example. Betty was beautiful, honest, graceful, elegant, intelligent, and a kind, gentle soul. Betty is greatly missed by her grieving loved ones.

A service to celebrate her life will be at 11 a.m. held on June 11, 2016 at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1702 Chestnut Avenue, Buena Vista, Va.

The family requests that any generosity in Betty's name be made to Rockbridge Area Hospice of Virginia and/or her church.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Buena Vista, Va.
