Hercules, Inc. Retiree Was Parrish Court United Methodist Church Member

Lewis Curtis Wickline, 87, of 225 W. Phillip Street, Covington, Virginia, died Monday, June 6, 2016 at his residence.

He was born March 19, 1929 in Summers County, West Virginia, a son of the late Garnet Earl Wickline and Clair Ethel Forren Wickline.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Wickline was preceded in death by six brothers, Lacy, Arbie, Charles, Lee, Denny and Cotton and three sisters, Evelyn, Veneta and Cleo.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Shirley Bottomly Wickline of Covington; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Margie of Covington; three granddaughters, Molly Smith, Annie Smith and Maggie Smith; one brother, Harlan Wickline and his wife, Wanda of Lewisburg, WV and many nieces, nephews and friends.

L.C. was a member of the Meadow Bridge High School Graduating Class of 1948. He served his country with the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1948 until 1952.

He retired from the former Hercules Inc. in the Production Department.

Mr. Wickline attended Parrish Court United Methodist Church.

He loved to garden and share his vegetables with everyone. He could be found reading his Bible that his mother gave to him and loved to making plagues and sharing them with children.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Warren officiating.

The interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery with graveside rites being conducted by the Curtis A. Smith post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Arritt Funeral Home.

The family suggest that memorial donations in Mr. Wickline's name may be made to either the Parrish Count United Methodist Roof Fund, 2343 S. Carpenter Drive, Covington, VA 24426; Alleghany Humane Society, P. O. Box 60, Low Moor, VA 24457 or Covington Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 588, Covington, VA 24426.
