Mrs. Virginia J. Brown, 95, formerly of Lexington, Virginia, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2016, at Harris Hospice of Charlotte, N.C.

She was born on December 25, 1920, in Rockbridge County, Virginia.

Mrs. Brown retired from Centel in Lexington, Va.

She was predeceased by her husband, James W. Brown Jr

. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy L. Brown (Roscoe Thorpe), of Charlotte, N.C.; son, James W. Brown (Nicole) of Antioch, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Amber, Cameron, Caleb, Jacqueline, Jennifer and Jonathan, and great-granddaughter, Marley. She is also survived by special nieces, Joyce J. Tucker, of Fayetteville, N.C., Vicki Johnson, of Raleigh, N.C., Mayme Grant (Carl), of Atlanta, Ga., and Andrea Ledbetter, of Bowie, Md.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to those that provided care for Mrs. Brown while she was in Lexington and Charlotte.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at First Baptist Church, 103 North Main St., Lexington, Va. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Lexington, Va.
