Charlottesville Native Was Plecker Construction Retiree

Everett Jackson Riley, 82, of Millboro, Virginia, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 18, 2016 from his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born June 15, 1934 in Charlottesville, Virginia, a son of the late William and Blanche Jack Riley.

Mr. Riley retired from Plecker Construction of Staunton, Va.

He was a member and trustee of The Rehoboth Community Church.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing ball. Most of all he loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving family members include his beautiful wife of 54 years, Brenda Susan Booth Riley, whom he married January 26, 1962; three daughters, Patsy Chestnut and husband, Ralph of Warm Springs, Victoria Strickler and husband, Johnny of Millboro, and Donna Martin and husband, Tracy of Millboro; two sons; Benny Riley of Millboro, Steve Riley and fiance, Tracie Marshall of Waynesboro, as well as fourteen grandchildren: Summer Riley and fiance, Brandon, Shasta O'Conner and Patrick, Tyler Riley, Savannah Riley, Neal Chestnut, Liza Chestnut, Christina Strickler and Patrick, John Robert Strickler, Christian Riley, Levi Riley, Moses Riley, Fletcher Riley, Melinda Griffin and husband, Jonathan, TJ Martin and wife, Jessica; three step grandchildren: Conner Morris, Carter Marshall and Kaylie Marshall; five great grandchildren, Jackson Craun, Aiden and Noah O'Conner, Mayah Crawford, and Easton Martin, as well as two step great grandchildren, Ava Howard and Chloe Haggard; a sister, Evelyn Baranowski of Florida and his special pets, Little Girl and Bentley. He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Madeline "Maddie" Johnson; six brothers, Bill, Sam, John, Buck, Paul and Gene Riley, and six sisters, Vinia Riley Brown, Margaret Riley Workman, Patsy Riley, Edith Riley Campbell, Ruby Riley and Joanie Riley.

Mr. Riley was a compassionate and kind man who touched the lives of everyone he met. In addition to his immediate family, he leaves behind extended family, friends and a community whose lives were enriched by having known him. He made friends with whomever he came in contact with and he loved being a disciple for his heavenly father.

A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Pastor Bill Gram and Lloyd Via officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home and at other times at their residence at 5933 Pig Run Road, Millboro, Virginia. The family suggest memorial contributions take the form of donations to the Rehoboth Community Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Donna Martin, 1567 Blue Grass Hollow Road, Millboro, Va. 24460.
