Obituary for Ray William Keen, Sr. Ray William Keen, Sr.
Former Covington Motor Company Service Manager Was Waco Employee, Dunlap Christian Church Member

Ray William Keen, Sr., 59, of 3620 Kanawha Trail died Wednesday night, June 29, 2016, in the University Of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville.

Mr. Keen was born September 26, 1956, in Greenbrier County, WV, a son of the late Junior and Margaret Masters Keen.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents who raised him in their home, Woody and Madeline Masters; two brothers, Roy "Fish" Keen and Danny Keen, and also by two sisters, Kay Ann Mabry and Jeannette Carola.

He was employed for over 30 years with the former Covington Motor Company as a mechanic and Service Manager. He was currently serving as a mechanic for Waco, Inc. in Covington.

Ray was a longtime member of Dunlap Christian Church, where he had served as an Elder, Sunday School teacher, song leader, trustee of the church and lay speaker.

He was a member of the Lone Oak Hunt Club and a former troop leader for Boy Scout Troop 115.

Ray was a 1975 graduate of Greenbrier East High School, where he enjoyed playing football and was offered a football scholarship to James Madison University.

Surviving are his wife, Kathy Simpson Keen of Covington; his son, Ray W. Keen, Jr. of Covington; five Brothers, Marvin Keen and his wife, Sylvia, of Hollywood, WV, Charles Keen and David Keen, both of Caldwell, WV, Nicky Keen of Lexington and Rick Keen and Kate Rowland of Lexington; six disters, Phyllis Boggs and her husband, Rocky of Roanoke, Susan Smith of Fairlea, WV, Faye Keen and David Bare of Ronceverte, WV, Bertha Weikle and her husband, Matt of Lewisburg, WV, Becky Catlett and Sharon Vess, both of Lexington; a special aunt, Loretta Masters Radford of Caldwell, WV and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Atkins, Rev. Bill Gilliland, Rev. J. B. Broughman, Rev. Kenny Baker and Rev. Bill Carter officiating.

Interment will be made in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Larry Mann, Jerald Burdett, Kyle Moore, David Willis, Jeff Camp, Wayne Howard, Rick Keen, Frank Freeman, David Fawcett, Richard Oakes, Wesley Arritt, Brian Crossland, Johnathan Crossland, Kevin Gabbert and Henry Radford.

Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Vass, Delmas Burks, Arnold Harvey, J.B.Bowyer, David Arritt and Terry Simpson.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home and at other times will be at the residence of Ray Keen, Jr., at 9110 Rumsey Road, Covington.
