Obituary for Bertha Ramsey Webb Bertha Ramsey Webb
Worked With Rooklin's Department Store For Many Years

Bertha Ramsey Webb, 107, formerly of Covington, Virginia, died Friday, July 8, 2016 at the Brian Center Nursing Center in Low Moor.

Mrs. Webb was born May 1, 1909 near Goshen in Augusta County, a daughter of the late William P. and Maggie Pearl Eagle Ramsey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Brown H. Webb in 1979; a son-in-law, Sam Armstrong in 1996; sisters, Grace VanSant and her husband, Dr. Tom; Nita Kivlighan and her husband, Ike; Anna Rose Ramsey; Jane Baker and her husband, Keith; brothers, Guy Ramsey and his wife, Grace; Walter Ramsey and his wife, Margaret and a brother-in-law, Gordon Fortune.

She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church where, until her stroke in 2007, she was active in the Women of the Church, the Women's Circle and served as a Sunday School teacher. She was a Life Member of the Presbyterian Women.

For many years she was employed as a clerk in the women's department of the former Rooklin's Department Store.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Sue and David Vest of Covington; grandchildren, Greg and Diane Armstrong, and their son, Sam of Mechanicsville, MD, and Michael and Elizabeth Armstrong and their children, Timothy, Samantha and Natalie, of Covington and Carrie Pettus and her son, Braxton of Christiansburg; a sister, Blanche Fortune, of Craigsville and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and are being handled by Arritt Funeral Home.
