Self-Employed Carpenter Was U. S. Army World War II Vetean, Illinois Native

Helmut Peter (Pete) Does, age 89, of Covington, Virginia, died Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at his residence.

He was the husband of the late Dorothy Sutphin Does.

Mr. Does was born June 4, 1927, in Illinois, a son of Henry Does and Katherine Schmitt.

He served in the U.S. Army during War World II.

Mr. Does was self-employed as a carpenter.

Mr. Does is survived by his daughter, Diana Does Scott; two grandchildren, David Scott and Michael Scott; three sisters, Ruth Gardner of Covington, Hildegard Peck of Washington State, and Elizabeth Teague of California; brother John Does of California; Suzanne Martin Does; seven step-children Eric Walton, Dan Walton, Gregory Martin and wife, Heather, Justin Sutton and wife, Tasha, Elly Holloway and husband, J.R., Mikeal Lewis, and Jesse Lewis; also surviving are a number of step-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Dorothy Sutphin Does, and his parents, Henry Does and Katherine Schmitt, he was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Does.

A graveside service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Johnson Creek A.R.P. Church Cemetery with Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating.
