Alleghany County Native Was Homemaker, Former Little Gems, Jane Colby Employee

Bonnie Sue Webb Dobbs, age 71, of 712 Palace Boulevard, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Sunday, July 31, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Bonnie was born May 31, 1945 in Alleghany County to the late Frank Alfred and Helen Matheny Webb.

Throughout her life, she was a homemaker and worked for Jane Colby and Little Gems of Eagle Rock, but later opened her home to many area children, who loved her as more than a babysitter. She was their "Nana".

She enjoyed painting, and was a member of Low Moor Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder there and helped create the church's Food Box donation program.

In addition to her family, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon Jones and a step daughter-in-law, Brenda Dobbs.

She is survived by her husband, James A. "Shadetree" Dobbs, Jr. of Clifton Forge; a step daughter, Martha Jane Smith of Clifton Forge; a step son, James Dobbs III and wife, Amy of Bedford; a sister, Wanda Booth and special friend, Terry Loving of Clifton Forge; three brothers, Sammy Webb of Iron Gate, Jerry Webb and wife, Ann of Covington, and Frank "Bucky" Webb and wife, Phyllis of Selma; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Birdie and Paul Curtis, Carla and Tommy Dobbs, and Gina Dobbs; four step grandchildren, Drew Dobbs, Devin Dobbs, Dylan Dobbs, and Brett Smith; three step great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews, including three special nieces who were like daughters to her, Roberta Crizer, Kelly Vess, and Joleen Feazell, and special nephew, Kevin Booth; and many friends, but especially her best friend, Betty Caldwell.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Lisa Marshall and Reverend Edith Snedegar officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Johnson, Ricky Khone, Christian Vess, Adam Vess, Devin Dobbs, Dylan Dobbs, Kevin Booth, Drew Dobbs, Michael Crizer, and Matthew Crizer. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Low Moor Presbyterian Church, 204 Old Church Road, Low Moor, VA 24457 or to the Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, P. O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
