Obituary for Audrey Wright Barner Audrey Wright Barner
Alleghany County Native Was Lone Star Baptist Church Member

Audrey Wright Barner, 68, of 309 Jonestown Road, Covington, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord, on Sunday August 7, 2016 following an extended illness.

She was born December 12, 1947 in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late Harry Wright and Shirley Wright LaDue.

Audrey was a graduate of Alleghany County High School and Leonard's School of Beauty in Richmond, VA.

She was a member of Lone Star Baptist Church and her hobbies were painting and working in her flower beds.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Richard (Dick) Barner; two sons, Rick Barner and his wife, Tracy, of Covington and Tony Barner and his wife, Lisa, of Union, WV; four grandchildren, Cameron Barner and Kaitlyn Barner of Covington, Scott Barner of Martinsburg, WV and Lauren Barner of Fairmont, WV, her sister, Rhonda Lockhart and her husband, Ray, of Martinsville; her brother, Gary Wright of Covington; cousins who were raised in the home and thought of as siblings, Jerry Steele and his wife, Ginny, of Charlottesville, and Anne Steele McMennamy of Covington; a very special childhood friend, Betty Wright, whom Audrey considered her sister, and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins.

The funersl service will be conducted on Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at the graveside in Lone Star Cemetery with Pastor Donald Earwood officiating and Pastor Rick Keener assisting.

The family will receive their friends one hour prior to the service at Arritt Funeral Home and at other times at the residence 309 Jonestown Road.

The family suggests that memorial donations may be made in Mrs. Barner's name to Mountain Regional Hospice at P. O. Box 637 Clifton Forge, VA 24422, or Lone Star Baptist Church's Building Fund at 6115 Potts Creek Road, Covington, VA 24426.
