Natural Bridge Resident Worked With WalMart

Norma Smith Thompson, 83, of Natural Bridge, Virginia, and known lovingly as NaNa and Grandma passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 6, 2016.

Daughter of the late Andrew and Ruby Cash Smith of Big Island, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Thompson; brothers, Andrew Smith Jr., John Smith, Wayne Smith, Robby Smith, and sister, Marion Hodges.

Norma was a faithful wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She continued to work full-time as a Walmart associate at 83 years of age.

Norma enjoyed spending time with her family and friends as well as her many trips to plays.

She was a long-time member of High Bridge Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Cindy and Chipper Harper, Angela and Mike Martin. Also surviving are grandchildren, Daniel Sanderson, Dustin Harper, and Aimee Harper; great-grandchildren, Anna and Aden Sanderson.

Surviving siblings include Doris Dalton, Nelson Smith, Sally Cheatham, and Sam Smith, all of Big Island, and sisters-in-law, Betty T. Moody and Mary S. Thompson.

Norma was deeply loved by her immediate family and many special friends as well as her co-workers. She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. Norma will be remembered for her generous heart giving to the veterans at Cave Creek Assisted Living Home and the elementary students in the Buchanan and Natural Bridge Schools.

A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Harrison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Children's Miracle Network, 205 West 700 South, Salt Lake City Utah 24101.
