Virgil Elwood Wilhelm, 57, of Buena Vista, Virginia, passed away, Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

Born August 17, 1958, in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Homer Sherdian Wilhelm Sr. and Shirley Bryant Wilhelm.

He was also preceded in death by his sister, Laura Mutispaugh; and brother-in-law, Roscoe Mutispaugh.

Mr. Wilhelm was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Zimbro Wilhelm; children, Misty Wilhelm Garrett and husband, Brandon, Dustin Wilhelm and special friend, Kelsey, Tiffany Wright and special friend, Katrina; son-in-law, Anthony S. Wright; daughter-in-law, Stacey Wilhelm; grandchildren, Kelsey Garrett, Bech Garrett, Caden Garrett, Lincoln Garrett, Gavin Wilhelm, Pyper Wilhelm, Makaila Walker, and London Wright, Lillian Cubas, Katherine Cubas, Aiden Clifton, and Marissa Reynolds; brothers, Homer Wilhelm Jr. and wife, Sandra, and Michael Wilhelm and fiance, Karen; uncle, Leon Wilhelm and wife, Sara; and by many other loving family members and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m., Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Buena Vista, with Mark Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2016 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home.
