Obituary for Johnnie William Van Buren, Sr. Johnnie William Van Buren, Sr.
Retired CSX Transportation Brakeman Attended First Assembly Of God Church

Johnnie William Van Buren, Sr., age 88, of 1103 Staunton Street, Selma, Virginia, died Sunday, August 14, 2016 at his residence.

He was born January 9, 1928 in Clifton Forge, Virginia, to the late John D. and House Norvell Van Buren.

He was a retired Brakeman for CSX Transportation and attended the First Assembly of God Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine Barger Van Buren; a son, Johnnie Van Buren, Jr.; two sisters, Ruth Hill and Elsie Knighton; a brother, Jimmy Van Buren; and a great grandchild, Abram Shanaberger.

He is survived by three sons, Stephen Wayne Van Buren and wife, Lory of Caldwell, WV, Stewart Lee Van Burn of Selma, and Rickey Allen Van Buren and wife, Lois of Fairbanks, PA; two brothers, Harvey Van Buren of Selma and Tommy Van Buren of Manassas; ten grandchildren, Tristen Wayne Van Buren, Stephen Allen Van Buren, Stephanie Barrix, Steward Jacob Van Buren, Beau Daniel Van Buren, Erick Alexander Van Buren, Rickey Van Buren, Jr., Chance Aaron Van Buren, Johnnie Van Buren III, and Christian Fuller; six great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. There will be no services held.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, is handling arrangements.
