Elbert Aldonia Underwood, age 96, of 123 T. C. Walker Road, Millboro, Virginia, died Sunday, August 14, 2016 at his residence.

He was born March 27, 1920 in Millboro to the late Richard and Lillie Jack Underwood.

He was an equipment operator for Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad, and was a member of Millboro Christian Church for 78 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Mae Entsminger Underwood; two brothers; and four sisters.

He is survived by two sons, Bobby Smith and wife, Dottie of Staunton, and Larry Entsminger and wife, Liz of Millboro; six grandchildren, Calvin Myers and wife, Beth of Mechanicsville, Julie Simmons and husband, Jeff of Millboro, Michael Entsminger and wife, Allison of Fishersville, Crystal Roberts of Glasgow, Tabatha Fish and husband, Sam of Buena Vista and Brandon Entsminger and wife, Anne of Millboro; six great grandchildren, Ian Myers, Bo Simmons, Jonathon Roberts, Sidney Roberts, Rylee Entsminger, and Heath Fish; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Lloyd Via officiating.

Interment will follow in Millboro Christian Cemetery, Millboro.

Friends of Millboro Christian Church will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.
