Obituary for Jean Woolwine Clift Jean Woolwine Clift
Clifton Forge Native Was Longtime Educator, Worked With Owen's Pharmacy

Jean Woolwine Clift, age 94, formerly of Jefferson Avenue, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at The Brian Center in Low Moor.

Jean was born January 5, 1922 in Clifton Forge to the late Frank Henry and Lillian Mae Roof Woolwine.

She taught in Clifton Forge Public Schools for over forty-four years, with limitless patience and kindness, and stated “I loved every minute of it!â€

Many of her former pupils continue to use the invaluable skill of typing to carry out their daily lives.

She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church and also attended the Clifton Forge Baptist Church.

For many years, Jean assisted her husband at Owen's Pharmacy in Clifton Forge, and as a hobby, directed countless beautiful weddings for friends. She enjoyed evenings with her husband and mother at their camp on the Cowpasture River at Sharon.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rorer Ernest Clift.

She is survived by her very special family of close friends, the Tom and Carlene Bass family, the Charlie Kahle family, the Margaret Kostel family, and the Wallace C. Nunley, Sr. family; her special caregiver, who dedicated herself to Jean for over ten years, Ermine "Ermie" Meadows; and other caregivers, including the staff of the Brian Center, Alleghany, who gave outstanding care for many years.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Pastor Tommy Thompson officiating.

Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery, Clifton Forge.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Kahle, Tommy Slusser, Glenn Perry, Jay Litten, Jim Eller, Wally Nunley, Jimmy Kostel, Peter Kostel, and Guy Michael Pullen.

Friends may visit on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Alleghany Humane Society, P. O. Box 60, Low Moor, Virginia 24422.
