Homemaker Was Gospel Tabernacle Church Of God In Christ Member

Geneva Wallace Barber, formerly of Covington, Virginia died on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at The Brian Center Nursing Home in Low Moor, Virginia.

She was born on December 29, 1922 in Cliftondale Park, Alleghany County, Virginia, a daughter of the late William Edward and Bessie Oatneal Wallace.

Sister Barber was a member of Gospel Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, Covington, Virginia, and was a homemaker all of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Grant Ulysses Barber on February 10, 1987; a sister, Roberta Burks; six brothers, Clarence, Essery, Norman, Leonard, Hezekiah, and Earl; a son-in-law, Wilbert Ronald Crawley; and an infant great grandchild.

She is survived by her daughter, Denise Crawley of Clifton Forge; one granddaughter, Chanti Yancey of Clifton Forge; one great grandson, Tyrek Yancey of Clifton Forge; a devoted brother, Clevie Wallace of Clifton Forge; three sisters-in-law, Catherine Wallace of Philadelphia, PA, Hazel Wallace of Clifton Forge, and Josephine F. Wallace of Indianapolis, IN; her former caregiver, Joyce Hughson of Clifton Forge; a devoted nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Reginald W. Wallace of Clifton Forge; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. in Gospel Tabernacle Church of God in Christ in Covington, Virginia with Elder Gregory Moore officiating, assisted by area ministers.

Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Covington. The family will receive friends on Friday afternoon, one hour prior to the service at Gospel Tabernacle Church of God in Christ.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, is handling arrangements.
