Obituary for Hazel Helena Callender Hazel Helena Callender
First Baptist Church Member Was Lifelong Clifton Forge Resident

Hazel Helena Callender, age 88, of 815 Church Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Saturday, September 3, 2016 at The Golden Living Center, Clifton Forge.

Hazel was born June 27, 1928 to the late John Lacy and Hattie Callender, and was a lifelong resident of Clifton Forge.

She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Clifton Forge and served on the Senior Usher Board, the Missionary Board, the Senior Choir, the Hospitality Committee, as well as an assistant Sunday school teacher.

She also served our community as an assistant to the manager of the neighborhood park, now known as Washington Park.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings.

Mourning her loss are her nieces and nephews, Anita Fountain Oliver, Frederick Fountain, Godfrey Callender, Stanley Callender, Ione Callender, Sandra Callender, and Natalie Callender Murphy; a sister-in-law, Madeline Callender; and a host of great nieces and great nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in First Baptist Church, Clifton Forge with the Reverend Roslyn Thomas presiding. The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon from 12:30 pm until the time of service at the church.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, is handling arrangements.
