Catherine Lomax Tilson, 85, of Lexington, Virginia died Thursday, September 22, 2016 at the Benjamin Borden Center.

Born August 4, 1931 in California, she was a daughter of the late William Bedee Lomax and Louise Short Lomax.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Andrew Tilson; and one brother, William B. Lomax, Jr.

Mrs. Tilson was a member of the Lexington Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her three children, Carol Atwood, Susan Richardson and Alan Tilson; one sister, Sarah Mercer; seven grandchildren, Lee Atwood, Laura Dueker, Marie Nicely; Rebecca Tilson, David Tilson, Lora Volant, Taylor Richardson; five great grandchildren, Lucy Atwood, Georgia Atwood, Lilly Nicely, Julia Nicely, Bryn Dueker.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
