Obituary for Donald Gene (Donnie) Grimes Donald Gene (Donnie) Grimes
Covington Native Was Longtime Owner Of H&M Electric

Mr. Donald Gene (Donnie) Grimes, age 69, of Covington, Virginia, died Monday, October 3, 2016, at LewisGale Hospital – Alleghany, Low Moor.

He is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Helen Sovereen "Bonnie" Grimes.

Mr. Grimes was born December 12, 1946 in Covington, the son of the late Margaret Myers Jones and husband, Paul, and was reared in the home of his uncle, Jim Hepler and wife, Dorothy.

A lifetime resident of this community, he served his country as a member of the United States Navy.

Donnie was the former owner of H&M Electric for over fifty years.

He was a member of Edgemont Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, where he was a former deacon. Donnie enjoyed spending time with family especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Bonnie, Mr. Grimes is survived by a son, Donald Gene Grimes, Jr. of Covington; a daughter, Chanda Cook and husband, Todd of Covington; three grandchildren, Chandler Cook, Ashton Cook and Trey Cook of Covington; three brothers, Dennis Jones, David Jones and wife, Joann and Gerald Jones, all of Ohio; three sisters, Sharon Jones of Eggleston; Joyce Dellisanti and husband, Tim and Vicki Sebastian and husband, Bryan, all of Ohio; two sisters -in-law, Sadie Landis and Phyllis Pulley; a brother-in-law, Monzel Sovereen; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 7, 2016, at Edgemont Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church with Rev. Donnie Bowker officiating. Entombment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Edgemont Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, 2306 S. Church Avenue, Covington, VA 24426.
