E-ZPass Customer Service Rep Was Clifton Forge Native

Russell Benjamin Smith IV, age 50, of 948 Ingalls Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Monday, October 10, 2016 at LewisGale Hospital – Alleghany, Low Moor.

Russell was born October 21, 1965 in Clifton Forge to the late Russell Benjamin "Rusty" Smith III and Patricia Reynolds Smith.

He was a customer service representative for E-ZPass of Clifton Forge.

He was a 1983 graduate of Clifton Forge High School and graduated from Dabney S. Lancaster Community College in 1985.

He was a member of Clifton Forge Presbyterian Church, where he taught the Men's Sunday School Class and served as an elder. He also belonged to the Clifton Forge Lions Club and the Clifton Forge High School Alumni Association, and loved to read.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Russell Smith, Jr. and Frances Turner Smith.

He is survived by his sister, Sandra Leigh Smith of Clifton Forge; a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins; two special friends, Kelsey Meyer and Lacy Meyer; and a special companion, "Gracie".

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Paul Brokaw, Reverend Glenn Clements, and Mr. Chris Fisher officiating.

Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge.

Pallbearers will be Ron Holliday, Todd Tyler, Allen Tyler, Casey Gibson, Joey Reynolds, Timmy Reynolds, Tommy Vest, Jerry Meyer, Doug Russell, and Lenny Crance.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home and other times at his residence at 958 Ingalls Street, Clifton Forge. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Alleghany Humane Society, P. O. Box 60, Clifton Forge, VA 24422 or to the Clifton Forge High School Alumni Association, P. O. Box 118, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
