Dorothy Jane Hinton Alfred, 93, formerly of Covington, Virginia died Saturday, October 15, 2016 at The Woodlands Nursing Center in Clifton Forge.

She was born June 18, 1923, the daughter of the late George M. Hinton, Sr. and Gussie Dressler Hinton.

In addition to her parents she was preceded by a brother, George M. Hinton, Jr. and also by two sisters, Pauline H. Owens and Aurelia H. Flint.

Surviving are her son, Dan Alfred of New York, NY; one granddaughter, Jessica Alfred and one grandson, Tim Alfred; several nieces and nephews, including James and Barbara Flint, who were her caregivers for a number of years and Edward Flint and Gary Flint.

In keeping with her wishes her body has been cremated.

There will be no formal funeral service or visitation, per her request.

The Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia, handled the arrangements.
