Obituary for Frank Curtis Nicely Frank Curtis Nicely
Retired Carpenter Was Clifton Forge Native

Frank Curtis Nicely, age 79, of 202 10th Street, Iron Gate, Virginia died Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at LewisGale Hospital – Alleghany in Low Moor.

He was born August 30, 1937 in Clifton Forge to the late Benjamin and Inies Evelyn Anderson Nicely.

He was a retired carpenter for the Mid-Atlantic Regional Council of Carpenters Union Local 419 and served in the Virginia National Guard.

He was an avid New York Yankees fan, enjoyed hunting and gardening, and loved his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by his wife and companion of 35 years, Barbara Ann Combs; four sisters, Goldie Van Ness, Shirley Nicely, Corrine Combs, and Judy Nicely; and a brother, Walter G. Nicely, Sr.

He is survived by two daughters, Dana Combs Crowder and husband, Nick of Iron Gate, and Kathy Combs Mines and husband, Rick of Covington; a sister, Rose Nicely and husband, Danny of Clifton Forge; a sister-in-law, Josephine Nicely; three grandchildren, Amanda Nichols and husband, Austin, James K. Curry, Jr., and Harlie Curry; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special companion, "Angel".

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Edith Snedegar officiating. Interment will follow in Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge.

Pallbearers will be Nick Crowder, Rick Mines, James Curry, Jr., Trevor Van Ness, Dwayne Nicely, and Paul Adams.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, or other times at the residence, or at the home of his sister, Rose Nicely, 112 Seventh Street, Clifton Forge, VA.
