MeadWestvaco Retiree Dies At Age 87

Paul Eugene (Gene) Kemper, 87, of 2042 S. Carpenter Dr., Covington, Virginia went to be with the Lord on October 19, 2016.

Mr. Kemper was born March 23, 1929, the son of the late Lewis E. Kemper and Myrtle Dew Kemper.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Wanda K. Hepler and Maxine Byer and two brothers, Joseph Kemper and Richard Kemper.

He retired after 46 years of service with MeadWestvaco and was a member of the Curtis A. Smith Veterans of Foreign War Post 1033.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Norma Kirby Kemper of Covington; one daughter, Donna Kemper of Covington; two grandsons, Paul Holsclaw and Marie Tang and Ross Holsclaw IV and wife, Li; one great granddaughter, Paris, all of Covington; two sisters, Jewell Anderson and Betty Kemper, both of Covington and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday October 22, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Williams officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Alleghany Memorial Park with military rites presented by the Curtis A. Smith Veterans of Foreign War Post 1033.
