Rose Marie Haymaker Gibson, 69, of Detroit Street, Covington, Virginia died Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Lewis Gale Alleghany Hospital in Low Moor.

She was born April 25, 1947 in Springwood, Virginia, a daughter of the late Warren Justin Haymaker and Gladys Elizabeth Hudson Haymaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers; two sisters and a granddaughter, Elaina Hayslett.

Rose was a graduate of James River High School.

She was an employee of the former Hercules, Inc. for 5 years. For 19 years, she was employed by PMI/Stop In Food Stores and was recognized in the Who's Who in Managerial Excellence.

She was a member of the Covington Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Rose loved to garden and take care her animals and spend time with her family at the camp.

Surviving are her beloved husband of 25 years, Jerry Wayne "Hoot" Gibson of Covington; her son, David Hayslett and wife, Gabi; her daughter, Michelle Collins; grandchildren, Christopher Hayslett, Steven Hayslett and his wife, Samantha, Erik Wiersteiner and Ashleigh Nelson.

In keeping with her wishes, her body will be cremated.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. at the Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia.

A private funeral service will be a later date.
