Obituary for Barton Cammeron Stanley Barton Cammeron Stanley
Bath County Native Was Korean War Air Force Veteran

Barton Cammeron Stanley, 87, died Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at the Springs Nursing Home in Hot Springs, Virginia.

Mr. Stanley was born May 9, 1930 in Bath County, a son of the late Frank and Catherine Shaffer Stanley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Elsie Wolfe, Bessie Wolfe and Catherine Stanley and two brothers, Bill Stanley and George Stanley.

He was a veteran of the Korean War with the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1033 in Covington and also Post #92 in Hot Springs.

He was a retired logger, an avid outdoorsman, hunter and gardener and a loving father grandfather and great grandfather.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Roxanne and Welland Laws of Hot Springs and Susie and Ray Woodruff of Covington; three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Becky Stanley of Covington, Pete and Sissy Stanley of Fredericksburg and Larry and Mindy Stanley of West Palm Beach, FL; one brother, Frank Stanley of Williamsville and a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 12, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating.

Interment will be made in Alleghany Memorial Park with graveside rites conducted by Curtis A. Smith Post #1033, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The family will receive their friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at Arritt Funeral Home and other times at Susie Woodruff's residence at 351 Sammy's Road, Covington, VA 24426.

The family suggest that donation in Mr. Stanley's name be made to Mountain Regional Hospice, P. O. Box 637 Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
