Dolores (Mini) Yvonne Vernall Helms, 84, of 2187 Little Valley Road, Warm Springs, Virginia died Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Augusta Health in Fishersville, Virginia.

She was born April 4, 1932 in Ridgley, West Virginia, the daughter of the late John Richard Vernall and Lillian Beatrice Knight Vernall.

Mrs. Helms retired was a retired nurse from Bath Community Hospital.

She was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Korean War.

She was a member of Star Chapel United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed traveling and was a loving wife and mother.

She was an avid Redskin fan and enjoyed NASCAR.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Robert Mason Helms of Warm Springs; a son, Mark William Koczak and wife, Janet of New Castle, Delaware; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, John R. Vernall, Jr.

A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 18, 2016 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Pastor Lorrie Aikens officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park, Cumberland, Maryland.
