Retired MeadWestvaco Roll Inspector Was Avid Sportsman

Lawrence David Wolfe, Jr., age 74, of 1818 Potts Creek Road, Covington, Virginia died Thursday, November 24, 2016 at his residence.

He was born March 28, 1942 in Covington, Virginia to the late Lawrence D. Wolfe, Sr. and Marie Tingler Wolfe.

He was retired Roll Inspector for MeadWestvaco, an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, and loved watching his granddaughter play softball.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sue Swoope Wolfe of Covington; two daughters, Christie Ford and husband, Jeff of Hot Springs, and Sherrie Gann and husband, Andy of Covington; a son, Lawrence D. Wolfe III and wife, Tonya of Selma; a sister, Janet McAllister of Kentucky; six grandchildren, Jerry Rice, Drew Gann, Jailyn Ford, Jordan Ford, Jonah Ford, and Hunter Wolfe; two great grandchildren, Laney Rice and Tyler Rice; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Bucky Webb.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in Lone Star Cemetery, Covington with Reverend Doug Hollenbeck officiating. Interment will immediately follow. There will be no formal visitation.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, Virginia, is in charge of arrangements.
