Mrs. Glenna Matheny Dodd, age 92, of Covington, Virginia died Thursday, November 24, 2016, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke.

She was the wife of the late Stewart Odell Dodd.

Glenna was born August 24, 1924 in Covington, the daughter of the late Hopson Shafter Matheny and Ida Burns Matheny.

During her career, she was employed by Covington National Bank, Magazine Grocery, Covington High School, and Thrift Drug.

Glenna returned to school, receiving her A.A.S. in Food Services Nutrition in 1982.

Glenna was a faithful member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church. Her passion was the Sunday School department, where she served as treasurer for 63 years.

Mrs. Dodd is survived by her special niece whom she thought of as her daughter, Carla B. Spencer and wife, Adrienne Kuder-Spencer; special cousin, Mary J. Holcomb; longtime friend, Scharlotte Gibson, and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Glenna was preceded in death by her twins, Stewart Michael and Hobson Patrick and her sister, Bettielou M. Davidson.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 2, 2016 at the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Susan E. Bentley officiating, assisted by Pat Loving. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church Sunday School Class Fund, 900 N. Alleghany Ave, Covington, VA 24426.
