Danny Lowe Keene, age 59, of 3001 Winterberry Avenue, Valley Ridge, Covington, Virginia died Sunday, November 27, 2016 in Caldwell, Greenbrier County, West Virginia.

He was born July 30, 1957 in West Virginia to the late James Harold and Eloise Lowe Keene.

He graduated from Greenbrier East High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Bluefield State College in 1986. He was a teacher and coach in the Alleghany County Public School System for over 29 years.

He was an avid West Virginia University and Dallas Cowboys football fan, and enjoyed all Alleghany High School sports, but truly loved coaching the girls’ basketball and girls’ softball teams.

He is survived by his wife, Nicole Curtis Keene of Valley Ridge, Covington; three daughters, Jessica Lee Keene of Charlotte, NC, Brittany Erin Powell-Keene of Lewisburg, WV, and Kendell Blair Keene of Valley Ridge, Covington; two sons, Skyler James Keene of Lewisburg, WV, and Peyton Michael Keene of Valley Ridge, Covington; a sister, Melissa Keene Vance of Ronceverte, WV; a granddaughter, Alice Katherine Clendenin; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends and coworkers in Alleghany County Public Schools.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. in Hodnett Hall, Alleghany High School, Covington, with Reverend Doug Moore and Reverend Grover Nicely officiating, assisted by Alleghany High School Athletic Director, Ty Dobbs.

Interment will follow in Rosewood Cemetery, Lewisburg, West Virginia.

The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
