John Oliver Moore, 66, of Lexington, Virginia, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, at his home.

Born Dec. 16, 1949, in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late John Emory Moore and Edna Smith Moore.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Randy Moore.

John was a member of Bible Church at Rockbridge.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Jean Higgins Moore; children, Carrie Moore Terry and Teresa Lynn Moore, both of Lexington, and John Oliver Moore Jr. of Raphine; sisters, Candy Moore Ruley of Fairfield, Donna Smith and Penny Higgins, both of Lexington, and Connie Clark of Florida; seven grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. George Warden officiating. Burial will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bible Church at Rockbridge, 3 W. Whistle Creek, Lexington, VA 24450.
