Obituary for Betty Coffey Teague Betty Coffey Teague
Buena Vista Native Was Longtime Teacher, Stone Church Of The Brethren Member

Betty Coffey Teague, 82, of Lexington, Virginia passed away, Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Augusta Health Center.

Born January 10, 1934, in Buena Vista, she was a daughter of the late Walker Lee Coffey and Sarah Montgomery Coffey.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Edward Teague; one brother and one sister.

She was a lifelong member of the Stone Church of the Brethren.

Betty loved her God, church, family, students, and Parry McCluer High School.

Betty retired in 1999 with over 30 years as an English teacher at PMHS. After retiring, she continued substitute teaching and selling tickets at athletic events. She was a member of the Rockbridge Retired Teachers Association.

Surviving are her five daughters, Deborah Gail Teague, of Elizabeth, Ind., Monica Teague Wilder and husband, Rusty, of Buena Vista, Rebecca Teague Burnett, of Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., Tracey Teague Smith, of Lexington, and Emily Teague Porter and husband, Keith, of Matthews, N.C.; eleven grandchildren, four step grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and eleven step great grandchildren; two sisters, Kathrine C. Rogers, and husband, Gordon, and Roxie C. Barksdale; numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Stone Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Russ Barb officiating. Entombment will follow at the Green Hill Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2016 at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in Betty's memory to educational programs at PMHS or the Stone Church of the Brethren.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Buena Vista, Va.
