Obituary for Annabelle Helms Dew Annabelle Helms Dew
Alleghany County Native Was Former Telephone Operator, Antiques Business Owner

Annabelle Helms Dew, age 89, of 102 Fork Farm Road, Eagle Rock, Virginia died Friday, December 9, 2016 at LewisGale Hospital – Alleghany in Low Moor.

She was born March 21, 1927 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late William Thomas "Tom" Helms and Celia Persinger Helms.

She graduated from Central High School in 1945 and was a lifelong member of the Clifton Forge Baptist Church.

She was a former operator for Clifton Forge-Waynesboro Telephone Company, but became interested in the acquisition of antiques, and was the owner of Millstone Antiques.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Edward Dew in August of 2016; a sister, Delilah H. Ervin in November of 2015; and a brother, William T. Helms, Jr., who served aboard the U.S.S. Kalk and died on June 12, 1944.

She is survived by two sons, Larry Dew and wife, Terry and Wesley Dew and wife, Jeana, all of Eagle Rock; two sisters, Audrey Nicely and Dorothy Nicely, both of Longdale Furnace Road, Clifton Forge; five grandchildren; three step-granddaughters; thirteen great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend J. Glenn Linthicum officiating. Services will conclude at the funeral home.

A private interment will be made at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Covington. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Clifton Forge Baptist Church, 511 McCormick Boulevard, P. O. Box 121, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
