Obituary for William Kent Leighton William Kent Leighton
Rockbridge County Native Was U. S. Air Force Veteran

William Kent Leighton, 87, of Natural Bridge Station, died Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

Born March 2,1929 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Franklin Leighton and Sallie Hickman Leighton.

Mr. Leighton served his country as a T/Sgt. in the United States Air Force for twenty-two years.

Surviving are two daughters, Lisa Leighton, and Marti McCorkle; one son, Kenneth P. Walrond Jr.; four siblings, Phillip A. Leighton, Richard L. Leighton, Ruby L. Higgins, and Robin L. Leighton; two grandchildren, Savannah Leighton, and Laurie Duncan; one great-grandson, Hunter Bowles; many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2016 at the Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jason Grimes officiating.

Burial will be private at High Bridge Presbyterian Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in loving memory of William to the Rockbridge County S.P.C.A., P. O. Box 528, Lexington, VA 24450.
