Longtime Covington First Baptist Church Member Dies At Age 87

Mrs. Agnes Smith Bowsky, age 87, of Covington, Virginia passed away Monday, December 19, 2016, at the Golden Living Center in Clifton Forge.

She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Covington, where she served as an usher.

She is survived by her dedicated brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Delores Smith of Washington, D.C.; her niece, Louise Witt of Greensboro, NC.; her nephews and their spouses, Warren and Delores Burks-Bey of Hope, IN, Frank and Rose Burks of Huber Heights, Ohio, Walter and Jamarilla Burks of Roanoke, Maurice and Lena Smith of Waldorf, MD; a host of great nephews, great nieces, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Bowsky.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 24, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, with Pastor Willie Cannon officiating.

The viewing will be held one hour prior to the funeral service and the family will receive visitors at that time.

Agnes was a graduate of Watson High School. She later moved to Gary, Indiana where she lived until she retired and moved back to Covington. She actively participated with the Watson Alumni Association. She actively participated with the Watson Alumni Association. She was a very giving person and enjoyed entertaining her family and friends.

She always kept the doors to her home open to all.
