Alleghany County Native Was DHS Salutatorian, Registered Nurse

Pauline Frances Brewster Hippert, age 96, of The Brian Center, Low Moor, Virginia and formerly of N. Augusta Avenue, Covington, Virginia, died Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at The Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation, Low Moor.

She was born August 29, 1920 in Alleghany County to the late John Smith Brewster and Florence Edna Vance Brewster.

She was a 1940 graduate and salutatorian of the Dunlap High School and graduated from the Leigh Memorial School of Nursing. She also attended Dabney S. Lancaster Community College.

As a Registered Nurse, she worked for Alleghany Regional Hospital and also did private duty.

She was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Malcolm Hippert; one brother; and four sisters.

She is survived by three daughters, Sylvia Teresa Arnold and husband, Bobby of Raleigh, NC, Carolyn Bartlett and husband, Rodger of Chester, and Althea Hippert and husband, Otway Chalkley III of Richmond; a son, Gregory Allen Hippert and wife, Sue Whiting of Covington; five grandchildren, Jamie Sellers, Cathy Tyndall, Shane Jones, Carrie Bartlett Thompson, and John Matthew Bartlett; six great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Phyllis Hunt of Low Moor.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, Covington with Reverend Billy Price officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Covington.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, Virginia.
