Obituary for Ronald Keith (Charlie) Ray Ronald Keith (Charlie) Ray
Iron Gate Resident Was CSX Retiree

Ronald Keith (Charlie) Ray, 58, of 204 Railroad Avenue, Iron Gate, Virginia died Monday, January 16, 2017 at LewisGale Medical Center in Salem.

He was born August 27, 1958 in Clifton Forge to the late Virginia Johnson Ray and the late Robert "Mann" Ray.

Charlie was retired after 20 years of dedicated service to CSX Transportation, a career that he thoroughly enjoyed. He was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Railroad Workers, and dedicated his spare time to his nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters: Catherine Ray Bunch, and Roxie Ann Ray; a nephew, Shawn C. Ray, and two nieces, LeAnn Ray and Shameeka E. Ray; and a special friend, Sybil Hickenbotham.

Charlie leaves to cherish his fond memories, two brothers: Robert Avon Ray, Newark Delaware, Warren Derek Ray, Clifton Forge, and a host of nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Kimberly Carroll.

In keeping with his wishes his body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday from the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge, with the Reverend DeLawrence Godfrey officiating, assisted by the Reverend Roslyn Thomas and the Reverend Gordon Hammond.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, 1700 McCorkle Avenue SE, Charleston, WV 25314
