Obituary for Lawrence Wayne Newcomb Lawrence Wayne Newcomb
Iron Gate Advent Christian Church Deacon Was Culpeper Native

Lawrence Wayne Newcomb, 40, of 114 Monroe Ave., Covington, Virginia and formerly of Iron Gate and Clifton Forge, died Saturday, January 21, 2017 at his residence.

He was born on January 10, 1977 in Culpeper, Virginia.

His parents, the late Charles Franklin and Betty Bailey Newcomb, died when Lawrence was very young. He was taken in and raised by his brother, Bobby and wife, Brenda.

He was a member and deacon of the Iron Gate Advent Christian Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Marie Campbell Newcomb in May of 2016; two sisters, June Reynolds and Eula Mae Hostetter; and a brother, Morris Newcomb.

He is survived by three daughters, Shea-Lyn Newcomb Miller and husband, Dustin, Larra Michelle Newcomb, both of Clifton Forge, and Anna Marie Cecelia Newcomb of Iron Gate; a son, Charles Lawrence Newcomb of Iron Gate; a step son, Andrew Blake Campbell of Iron Gate; two sisters, Judy Marie Newcomb of Lexington and Amy Irvine and husband, Glenn of Rustburg; two brothers, Charles Edward "Bobby" Newcomb and wife, Brenda of Clifton Forge and Charles Bradford Newcomb and wife, Cindy of Texas; a granddaughter, Raelynn Elizabeth Miller with another granddaughter due in May, Malia Rose Miller; his father-in-law, David Campbell of Iron Gate; special friends, Jody Miller and Marshall Chittum; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Longdale United Methodist Church, with the Reverend William Bearden officiating, assisted by the Reverend Grover Nicely.

The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon two hours prior to the service at the church, and other times at the home of Brenda and Bobby Newcomb, 6111 Longdale Furnace Road, Clifton Forge, VA.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, is handling arrangements. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Longdale United Methodist Church.
