Clifton Forge Homemaker Was Eagle Rock Native

Barbara Shannon Kidd Chesnut, age 73, of 1116 Ingalls Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at LewisGale Hospital – Alleghany, Low Moor.

She was born January 24, 1944 in Eagle Rock to the late Daniel Kidd, Sr. and Margaret Nininger Kidd.

She was a homemaker throughout her life. She enjoyed music and her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Kidd, Jr.

She is survived by a daughter, Kelly Carter and husband, Jimmy of Clifton Forge; three sons, Stephen Chesnut and wife, Shelia of Buchanan, Darren Chesnut and wife, Cathy of Stuarts Draft, and Chad Chesnut of Clifton Forge; three sisters, Joanie Unroe and husband, Mike of Eagle Rock, Stacy Herrell of Fincastle, and Peggy Arbogast and husband, Gino of Buchanan; three brothers, William Layne, Ronnie Layne and wife, Ann of Roanoke, and Marty Layne and wife, Cindy; six grandchildren, Shannon, Greg, Jessica, Madison, Bethany, and Ashtyn; three great grandchildren, Daniel, Marshall, and Ruby; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Fincastle with Reverend Mike Warren officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Greg Chesnut, Jason Tolley, Rocky Tolley, Brad Dotson, Dennis Maggi, Tyler Davis, Adam Wrenn, and Mike Unroe.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Fund, c/o William Teaford, 2016 Mt Pleasant Church Road, Fincastle, VA 24090.
