Obituary for Vergie Ann Masters Munsey Vergie Ann Masters Munsey
Ronceverte, WV Native Was Former Industrial Rayon Corp. Employee

Mrs. Vergie Ann Masters Munsey, age 83, of Covington, Virginia died Sunday January 29, 2017, at her residence.

She was the wife of the late William Hoyte Munsey, Jr., who preceded her in death on January 7, 2017.

Mrs. Munsey was born January 30, 1933 in Ronceverte, WV, the daughter of the late John Tony Masters and Mary Ann Poly Masters.

Upon moving to this area in 1954, Mrs. Munsey was employed by the former Industrial Rayon, where she worked on the knitting machine.

She was of the Methodist faith.

Vergie was a Girl Scout leader and enjoyed crossword puzzles, handcrafts, jewelry making and doing cross-stitch. Mrs. Munsey loved her animals and liked to donate to the local humane society for the care of other animals.

Mrs. Munsey is survived by two sons, William Tony Munsey and wife, Betty and Gary Mitchell Munsey, all of Covington; a daughter, Karen Sue Munsey Gibson and husband, Larry of Covington; four grandchildren, Richard Gibson and wife, Edna, Michael Gibson and wife, Rebecca, Erica Dawn Puckett and husband, Mark, Amanda Gail Taylor and husband, Ben; six great grandchildren, Alex Gibson, Rachel Gibson, Gabby Gibson, Gabe Gibson, Jake Taylor and Maddie Taylor; and two sisters, Kathleen Morgan of Fairlea, WV and Marjorie Wykle of Christiansburg.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Munsey was preceded in death by three brothers, Forest Masters, Arnold Masters and Hubbard Masters and one sister, Nellie Lockhart.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2017, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Hollenbeck officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be chosen from family and friends attending the service. The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Alleghany Humane Society, P. O. Box 60, Low Moor, VA 24457.
